Introduction

Welcome to Luftig & Warren International's (LWI) online course on Experimental Design and Industrial Statistics (DOE).

This course will be taught over a seven-month period.  The content follows that in the LWI premier five-week Experimental Design series.  There are four Levels of course content.

Instructors

Mr. Petrovich and Dr. Littlejohn will facilitate all levels of this series and be available for questions and comments.

Text Materials

  • Four volume set of LWI Experimental Design and Industrial Statistics course manuals  (All Levels)
  • Statistics for Management, textbook by Levin & Rubin, 1997 Prentice Hall (ISBN 0-13-633349-4) (Level I)
  • Orthogonal Arrays and Linear Graphs: Tools for Quality Engineering, Taguchi and Konishi, 1987 American Supplier Institute Press (ISBN 0-941243-01-X) (Level IV)
  • Recommended text for those wishing more depth in hypothesis tests: Handbook of Parametric and Nonparametric Statistical Procedures 2nd edition, textbook by David J. Sheskin, 2000 CRC Press (ISBN 1-58488-133-x) (Level II)

Course Operation

  • The course outline will be found in the course manuals.  Click here to link to the Course Outline page.
  • You will have weekly assignments which must be completed within a 10-day time period from date of issue. It is important that you keep up with your classmates as best as possible. Assignments will consist of Exercises and Self-Review Opportunities found in the manuals which can be checked using the Online Self-Evaluation Center. In addition, Progress Checks, also found in the Self-Evaluation Center will help you evaluate your comprehension of the material. Progress Checks occur at the end of each section and at the end of each level.
  • A message board is to be used for questions and answers. As a participant, feel free to ask and answer questions. You will find the instructor will post questions from time to time pertaining to the lessons. Please restrict the content on this message board to the course and related topics.
  • Each level of the course will take approximately one month, except for Level III, which will take two months.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement plaque to proudly display in your home or office.
