Q. Is the content for the online course the same as the in-house version of the Experimental Design and Industrial Statistics (DOE) series?
Yes, the same manuals and books are used in the online series that are used in the in-house version.
Q. How long does it take to complete the online version of the DOE series?
About seven months to complete all four levels. This is about the same time frame as for an in-house series.
Q. What are the main benefits of the online DOE series?
For many students and companies, taking five weeks out of their schedule is very difficult. Over the years there have been individuals who wanted to take the series, but never had the chance. Other students will find this is a great way to learn with increased flexibility.
Q. Will students learn as well?
Depending on the student, some may learn better. The benefit of the online course is that it requires the student to fully engage the material, to thoroughly read the text, and to work through the examples and Self-Review Opportunities. They cannot necessarily rely on their "table partner" to run the computer for them. Instead of one intense week per month, the material for each level is spread throughout the month, making it somewhat less intense and easier to absorb. Students that can learn through reading versus listening to lectures may prefer this form of instruction.
Q. Won't the students miss the classroom interaction?
This is definitely part of the DOE in-house training experience. The learning that comes from interaction with classmates is very valuable. In the online course we have a online message board to facilitate student and teacher interaction. We do recommend that when multiple students from the same company take the online series together, that they meet periodically and discuss material and applications. This is especially effective when facilitated by a Luftig & Warren International consultant or an in-house facilitator.
Q. Do students work at their own pace?
Yes and no. Students have the flexibility as to when to work on their lessons during the week, but students in each online class are expected to complete weekly assignments in a timely fashion. This will allow students to enter common discussions and keep people moving along. There is flexibility so that a student that has a business trip or vacation can still keep up.
Q. I am a past student. Would this be a good way to review the DOE series?
Yes! The online series is an excellent way to review the series, and may be the preferred method for review. Much of the course content has changed in recent years and this would be a great way to get up to speed. Pricing is reduced for past LWI Experimental Design students.
Q. We would like to have an online course run just for our company, is that possible?
Yes, just send your request for information. We are very flexible in how we put classes together.
Q. Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes, you will get a certificate mounted in a beautiful frame to proudly display in your office.
Q. What is the online course like?
See the Course Demo to see how the classes work.
Q. What is the price per student?
See the Pricing page for details on pricing.
